What is Home Automation?

Home automation (also called " domotics") is anything that gives you remote access or automatic control of anything around the home. Many variables can be integrated into building automation, such as: lighting, climate control, control of doors, windows, audio, security systems. Additional functions in home automation can include the control of multi-media home entertainment, networking systems, automatic lawn watering, pet feeding, and automatic lighting and music scenes for dinners and parties. The possibilities are endless with home automation systems.

Types of Automation Systems

Home automation is compatible for both new construction and retrofit projects. Many systems are compatible for either installations and offer excellent solutions to the ever evolving home or business. There are many types and brands on the market and all of them have their place in different electrical installations. Home automation offers 4 main system functions: Lighting Control, Security & surveillance, Home Functions, and Whole Home Audio.

Lighting Control- offers the ability to change several lighting moods with the touch of just one button, along with excellent energy saving benefits. With lighting controllers you can control your lights through many different gateways, such as: a touch screen, standard switching devices, remote controls, computer and internet gateways, sensors, telephone, and etc. The possibilities are endless.

Security & Surveillance- is simply the monitoring of your home or business from the same type of gateways as mentioned in lighting control, along with the endless capabilities that come with automated homes. You can view cameras from television sets or wall mounted touch screens. Other endless opportunities include activating any device upon security breaches, such as turning on lights/having them flash or having outdoor sprinklers activate when motion sensors are tripped. All our systems are designed specifically for each individual customer to fit their individual wants and needs.

Home Functions- allow opening of doors, heating/cooling control, steam room control, sprinklers, pet feeding, etc. We can control just about anything in a home through an automation system and program that functions to operate solely or based upon events, such as, a front door bell ringing activating the door lock & entry way lighting.

Whole Home Audio- can be as simple as a couple turn knobs controlling one rooms audio or as elaborate as touch screens and multi-disc/ MP3/ Sirius Radio server stationed systems tied directly into theater rooms and the home automation system.

Controller options

Control of the Home automation's system can be as simple as control at a wall switch or elaborate as a TV remote, Xbox 360 controller, or voice recognition system. There are also remote access controllers such as, a USB port for internet control, telephone access, and PDA access all allowing complete control and monitoring of your home or business any time, from any where in the world.
